Ancient Turkish Izmir Poppy. Papaver Somniferum L
Ancient variety of poppy grown in the city of Izmir (Smyrna as it was called in the time of the ancient Greeks). It has been grown for generations and has a high cultural status. High alkaloid poppy at its best. I bought the seeds from a well-known seed dealer that I trust but the germination was nothing to brag about. It has now been fixed and the germination is very good.
The variety is incredibly beautiful with its dazzling white flowers that really become Huge and it also seduces with its exotic seed capsules (can be used both dried and fresh). The seed capsules are rich in alkaloids and are excellent for the prepper / survivor.
